1850 census shows:
Robert Ralston 83 born about 1767 PA and wife Jane 76 born about 1774 PA are living in the household of son James Ralston 51 born about 1799 PA along with his wife Margaret age 45, born about 1805 in New York.
James children are:
Alexander 24, born about 1826 OH
Er 16, born about 1834 OH
Mary 14 born about 1836 OH
Cyrus 12, born about 1838 OH
Jane 10, born about 1840 OH
Martha 7, born about 1843 OH
They are all found living in Plymouth Twp., Richland Co., OH
Found in the same place is another Alex Ralston 45, born about 1805 PA, I'm pretty sure this is Robert's son.
This Alex has a wife Mary 36, born about 1814 New York and their children are:
Sarah 16, born about 1834 OH
Julia A. 14, born about 1836 OH
William C. 12, born about 1838 OH
If this information does not correspond with your family, ie Alexander, James, etc, you have the wrong family.
I believe this family originated from Salem Twp, Westmoreland Co., PA
