Two occurrences of Archibald Ramey in 1820 census
My lineage traces to Abel Ramey (b 1802) I was told that his father was Archibald Ramey.I found 2 occurrences of Archibald Ramey in the 1820 Census.
"Archabalde" Ramey was in Bath Co.If I'm reading the census right - He was born between 1776 and 1794.There is another male listed age 19-26 (not in 16-18 category) and 1 female in the 16-26 range.
"Arch" Ramey was in Fleming Co.He was born before 1776 & had several male and female children listed.
The Fleming entry correlates with the 'Archibald deposition' filed for his Revolutionary Pension. On May 19, 1835 - Archibald claims he was born March 17, 1759 in Stafford Co Va.He moved with his father to KY sometime around 1781 and had lived in Fleming Co for the past 40 years.
Since Abel Ramey married Sally Philips on Dec 5, 1821 in Bath Co (according to the Marriage Index here on the forum from Family Tree Maker CD#229) - then he possibly came from the 'Bath CO Archibald".(Although this is by no means conclusive).
Maybe this explains why I find some references to Archibald coming from Jeremiah Ramey (I cannot find any further back than that) and others have Archibald from John & Joanne(son of William JR.)
If anybody can help me out here - I would greatly appreciate it.I just started tracing my family back in October, and have almost no 'real' sources (except census records) - just what I've skimmed off the internet.
Thanks
Charles M. Ramey
