I looked around for some more info today so now I have more questions.
I have the following Ragsdale and Randolph marriages.
Lancaster Ragsdale and Elizabeth Randolph 1 Feb. 1819 in Wm. Co., TN. Bondsman John C. Randolph.
Dicy Ragsdale and John B. Randolph 8 June 1819 Wm. Co., TN. Bondsman John Lunn.
John Ragsdale and Polly Randolph 19 May 1821 in Maury Co., TN. This is from a marriage book so I have not seen the actual record yet and do not know who the bondsman was.
I also found this Probate/Guardian Settlement Record:
Catherine Randolph died 29 May 1840. John B. Ragsdale had been appointed her guardian. The card showed insane beside her name. The estate was settled in 1841.
John B. Ragsdale received an $18.00 Guardian Allowance, $24.00 burial expenses, and $6.00 expenses obtaining wards estate from Alabama and several other expenses.
The money was coming from the estate of John Randolph. The only thing in this file was the paper showing the expenses of the estate and the settlement amount.
Any idea who Catherine Randolph was? Maybe she was the daughter of John B. Randolph and Dicy Ragsdale which would make her John B. Ragsdale's niece?
I know John B. Ragsdale did not die and later married Sarah Dowdy 28 April 1849 in Williamson Co., TN. Bondsman was Porter Montgomery.
Porter Montgomery married John B. Ragsdale's sister Rhoda 28 Oct. 1824 in Williamson Co., TN. Bondsman was James Edwards.
But, who is the mother of Solomon Jenkins K. Ragsdale? The only marriages I find for John B. Ragsdale are Polly Montgomery and Sarah Dowdy. Do you suppose John B. and Polly Montgomery made up long enough to have another child? When did Polly Montgomery die?
Solomon Jenkins K. Ragsdale died 31 March 1909 in the 4th Dist. Hickman Co., TN. His death certificate number is #44546. Death certificates in TN in 1909 did not show the parents name and it's a miracle to find one at all. TN did not require death certificates be filed until 1914.
Any info on Mary Heron Montgomery is appreciated. Definately seems to be a problem. Thanks for your help.
