Re: Rose Rapacz 1915 Poland/Minneapolis
My great-grandfather was Andro Rapacz (b. 11.30.1852), who immigrated from Rdzawka, Poland, in 1887.His parents were Francis and Barbara Rapacz. He had two sisters that also came over, Mary Rapacz-Grigal-Korintha and Justina Rapacz-Gerzewski.
The family settled up in the Argyle area, and there are several hundreds relatives up there.
Your grandmother's name was probably Rozalia and anglecized to Rose.Don't get disappointed. With the translations from Cyrilic and the confused political situation of the time (she would probably be listed as coming from Austria), it is hard to find Poles in the records. If you are sure of the date and Ellis Island, try going through the records for the year by age and first name.
If she didn't write Polish or English, she could have been listed as part of a family she was traveling with.
