There was a Ray family in Oregon/Washington.The husband had Italian or Sicilian ancestry. He is listed in the 1920 census, Yakima, WA as Michael Ray, 28 years old, b. about 1892 in Tennessee. His parents were both listed as b. Italy.Michael had a wife, Ruth, 23, b. Iowa. They had 3 sons; Emerson- 5 years, Lloyd- 3, and Edgar- 1 1/2.The two oldest boys were born in Oregon, the youngest in Washington.
The 1930 census, Portland, Oregon lists who I beleive to be the same man. He is now listed as Mathew Ray, 37 years old, b. in Tennessee, both parents b. in Sicily. He has the same three sons. Emerson now is 15, Lloyd is 13 and Edgar is 11.Mathew Ray now has a second wife, Mabel. They have produced another son, Delmar b. 1927/28 in Oregon.
I see no mention of Ohio, but the Italy/Sicily stuff is interesting. This is not my family so I don't have any other information to give you.Just thought this much might be of interest to you.
