Hi Ryan,
I have an extensive database on the Reames, and perhaps I can help. Many many “John” Reames (bn 1650) in the data base, but it sprung from the earliest head to come to the U.S. in approximately 1632.John and Alice had four (some say five) sons.
One was Thomas Reames (bn 1708), Thomas had two sons… one name Thomas and the other Frederick Reames (bn 1739).
Federick Reames had 5 sons, the last born in 1779 was your John Reames.John had 4 sons by Elizabeth Betty Harrison (bn 1775) and re-married to Mahala Ann Farris (bn 1819) they had one child named Reams, this is your Benjamin Franklin Reams )(bn. 1836)(now around this time the folks started dropping the last “e” in the name, some kept and some did not, it depends on family tradition). And, I may add, that some researchers show John and Mahala having two children:Benjamin and a Mollie Reams (bn 1866).John died in 1852, so this must be flawed research but Mollie did remarry the same year (1866) to a James G. Crawford and suspect Mollie was his child.
Benjamin Franklin Reams (Senior-bn 1836) had 4 sons (one was named Benjamin Franklin Reames, Jr.-bn 1869).But your interest is in his last son born, Dillard Jackson Reams (bn 1872).I cannot find that he ever had a middle name of John as your research suggest.Dillard Jackson was married three times, wife number 2 was Lavina Venia Evelene Melton (bn 1886).They had three children and the only male was Roy Lee Reames (bn 1910).
I have a website www.reamesgenealogy.com , but the information shown here is not current or on the site, as yet. But it may be helpful to you in future leads.Let me know if I can assist further.
Regards,
Steve
