Wilford Redman Obituary
I have an old copy of Wilford Redman's obituary that has been passed down thru the family. I don't know which paper it was from. For those who would appreciate it, I thought I'd print a copy here. I will copy it as it was originally written, note the incorrect spellings of his name!
WELL KNOWN FARMER AND LAND-
OWNER PASSES AWAY.
Mr. Wilfred Redmon Succumbs To
Mr. Wilfred Redmon, aged 87 years,
died at his home near Middleburg, on
Monday night last , and was buried in
the Middleburg Cemetery on Wednesday.
Mr. Redmon was a large land owner and
farmer in his home community and a man
who was held in high esteem by all who
knew him. During the Civil War he ser-
ved with distinction in the Sixth Vir-
ginia Cavalry, under the command of Col.
Richard H. Dulaney and took part in the
battles of Cole Harbor, Gettysburg, and
Bull Run. He was twice married, his first
wife being a Miss Utterback of Fauquier
by whom he had nine children. After her
death he married Mrs. Colbert Holliday
who now survives him and from this mar-
riage was born one son, Mr. Ernest Redmon,
the well known and popular horseman of
this county. Mr. Redmon's funeral was
one of the largest ever seen in this
county and a high tribute to his mem-
ory as a man and as a Christian.
