I am afraid that I have very little information on Nathaniel Reemer.My family tree connection is that “Mary Reemer” daughter of Nathaniel & Mary Jane married Lewis Friesner.Lewis Friesner is my 2nd great grandfather.Paul

1.LEWIS4 FRIESNER(JACOB3, HENRY2, JOHANNES1) was born 01 Jul 1838 in Liberty twp., Fairfield Co., Ohio, and died 21 Jan 1915 in Rockwell City, Calhoun Co., Iowa.He married MARY REEMER 28 Aug 1858 in Coles Co., Illinois, daughter of NATHANIEL REEMER and MARY DAUGHETTE.She was born 14 Aug 1840 in Charleston, Coles Co., Illinois, and died 18 Feb 1925 in Rockwell City, Calhoun Co., Iowa.

Farmer.Lewis and Mary Rimer (Reemer) were in Coles Co., Ill in 1850 Federal Census and remained there until 1858 (Source Lewis' civil war pension file).By 1880 the census places them in Fair View, Labette, Kansas. By 1900 the census places them in Elm Grove, Calhoun Co., Iowa.Certificate of Death on file. DPOB found in LDS FHL Film 1254384 page 283b & IGI Pedigree. Occupation Farmer.Illinois State Archives Civil War Service Records show that Lewis was a member of Company D, 45th Infantry.He enlisted Sep 15, 1862 with his brother Levi.(Report on File).He was listed as a deserter on a number of occasions, and later it was confirmed that he was captured near Jones Mill, Arkansas and held as a POW in Batesville, Arkansas during August 1864.Lewis was honorably discharged October 15, 1865 at the rank of Corporal, at Fort Smith, Arkansas.Mary received a military pension (for Lewis Friesner's service) in the amount of $30 each month from the 1915 death of Lewis, until her death in 1925.Military and pension records acquired thru J. Beason and copies are on file. Lewis Friesner's death certificate is found in the Death Certified Health Record Book 1915, page 6, Calhoun County Courthouse, Rockwell City, Iowa.Funeral card with photo also on file.
