Dr. Thomas Reeve of London 1700-1780
Can anyone help with the ancestors of Dr. Thomas Reeve of London, please?
He was born in Middlesex in about 1700 and died at his house in Throgmorton Street, London, on 3rd October 1780, aged 80.
He was Registrar of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) 1739-41, then Censor of RCP 1741-49, then Consiliarius of RCP 1751-53, then President of RCP 1754-63. He was also Physician to St. Thomas's Hospital 1740-60.
He married Mary Gilbert (1708-1792) on 8th November 1740 at at St Olave, Hart St, London. She was the daughter of Thomas Gilbert, dyer and citizen of London, by his wife, Sarah Silvester.
Mary, Mrs Reeve, had the manors of Wickersley and Mexborough in Yorkshire from her mother who had them from her mother. She passed them on to her son, Edward Reeve, who married Frances Elizabeth Reynardson (see Burke's Commoners - Reynardson of Holywell Hall, co. Lincoln) - they left one daughter who married Captain Henry Kater who then had Wickersley and Mexborough.
Thomas and Mary Reeve had other children and so far I have:
Anne who married John Rudge of Ellstree, Middlesex (see Burke's Commoners - - Rudge of Evesham)
Mary (1743-1800) who married (1762) Peter Calvert of Hampton Court Palace, Middlesex
I have various information on most of the names that I mention here, except for the main subject of the posting, which is Dr. Thomas Reeve - can anyone help with him, please?
Many thanks,
Caspar
