I wish I could help you, but alas, my LA Reid is my brick wall as well.I would love to know who this John Reid's 6 children were. All I have on my ancestor is that his name is Charles Claiborn Reid(apparently my ggrandmother stressed the spelling) who claimed to have been born in Rapides Parish, LA.On the 1880 Polk Co., TX census, his father is born in AL and mother in LA.Info that we have is that he was orphaned, along with 2 sisters, when he was about 12.He removed from Rapides Parish to Polk co., TX in about 1847 with a Marsh family and others from that area. The thing that has always intrigued me is that when he chose his livestock brand in TX, he chose "JR" instead of using "C".Since Alexandra, LA was burned to the ground during the Civil War, I also cannot locate land, etc records to possibly find his parents.A Reid descendant submitted a DNA test, but so far we have had no matches; maybe someday.I research Reid possibilities from time to time, so if I come across something I will let you know.
