Re: Reiseger Family from Chicago and Groningen, Netherlands
Thank you for your fast answer. My English is very elementary, but by utilant simple sentences, there willbe no problem.
I am carrying out research on my patronym "RESSEGAIRE".
And in particular with the branches which fled FRANCE about 1685.
I found information on their exodus towards GERMANY, then towards SWITZERLAND or HOLLAND. It is rather complex, but there are books which describe this exodus and the refugee camps.
One can have access to registers of baptèmes and marriage (Protestants).
Thus I could recall the descent of a RESSEGAIRE (of my family) which had left for ENGLAND,
I could note the deformation of RESSEGAIRE (French name), quite localised at his origins, about 1600 in the south-east of FRANCE. The village of TRESCELEOUX in the department of the "HAUTES ALPES" in particular.
Deformation RESEGER does not surprise me. Phonetics is correct.
I will go to the "BIBLIOTHEQUE DE LA SOCIETE DE L'HISTOIRE DU PROTESTANTISME FRANCAIS" to PARIS.
And I will consult the microfilms of the religious acts of HOLLAND and GERMANY on this name RESSEGAIRE and the
alternatives. That will make it possible to confirm or not my assumption.
I know that a certain RESEGAIRE Jean, originating in TRESCLEOUX was indexed successively in refuges of emigrants in BERN, then LAUSANNE, then SCHAFFHOUSE in SWITZERLAND in September 1687, then in FRANKFURT in GERMANY in October 1687, with like destination envisaged BRANDEBOURG.
I will inform you of the result of my research.
PS : Information concerning your ancètre in HOLLAND would interest to me in order to facilitate my research.
