Re: James Render
My name is James Render II; my father was James Render. He was born in Greenville,Georgia. He was born in 1918 he was the eighth born of 11 children. His Mother was Hattie Hussey SHe married Charles Render inthe 1870's. Charles my grandfather was born in the 1840's in Greenville, GA. We still have a home on Render Road there in Greenviile. Right at the top of the hill is the white house. MY grand mother use to work for James Render. She was an African American housekeeper. This was post slavery by 5 to 10 years.
The James Render you are speaking of if he were white was a slave former slave owner and I believe he had a son who was a slave owner up until the end of slavery. My Grand mother worked for him. My mother named my father after him and I was named after my father. I was born in the mid 60's. My father had me going into his 50's. He told me lots of stories of how he grew up. I would love to talk to you about the Render family, Black or White our familes lived together.Hell we were family. Even though I was born in Michigan, moved to New York City. I still vist Greenville from time to time. I just go to look and wonder. Are you aware the that land was never redeveloped. It's still the plantation in tact. Just look real close. MY father pointed that out to me. He passed away 2 years ago. But I've always wanted to know more, good or bad. Please contact me or leave me more infomation.
