My great-grandfather's name was Rudolph Retzlaff. He came with his brother from Danzig, a German city in Poland, around 1900 and settled on Green Island, N.Y. He and his brother were carpenters. His brother moved west somewhere. Rudolph, had three sons, Karl, Arthur (who moved to Indiana) and Edward, and a daughter, Clara, who with her husband, Theodore Koerner, moved to the Detroit area. Rudolph's wife's maiden name was Wobrach (spelling?), and she came from Berlin. I don't know if this is the same Rudolph you're looking for, since it is a common German name.
