My ancestor is Ethelred Revell. Ethelred is a very unusual name, most unusual. And when one notes another with the same name, living in the same area, one questions? Is there a relationship?
Could there have been a marriage between the Revelle and Taylor families, else why name a child Ethlered. It would be my conclusion that they did live at the same time, in the same area, and did intermarry.
In brousing, I find this posting # 204 in the Revell forum, mentioning an Ethelred Taylor, who is living in "it reads to be the Isle of Wright,Va." around 1740.
In the Taylor forum, # 1004, There is mention of an Ethelred Taylor, who's will is dated 1792, living in Franklin Co. N. C.
Would these Ethelred Taylor's be the same person?
My ancestor, Ethelred Revelle was born in 1758, I would assume Va.and as his life progressed he moved into the N. C. area, into Tn. and by 1812 into the region of southeast Missouri. Where we have found what could be called the nuclus of the Missouri Revelle's. My family.
As you are knowledgeable in Revelle history, do you have any information regarding the source of the name, "Ethelred" Revelle, born in Va. or perhaps N.C. in 1758.
In noticing the name of Ethelred, and never having heard nor seen the name, other than in these two men and that they did live in the same area at the same time, I question that perhaps there is a relationship?
