Re: rewcastle, william, new castle upon tyne
I'm not sure if the information I have will help you, but since the name Rewcastle is quite unusual I thought we might be able to establish a link.
My Grandmother was a Rewcastle before she married my Grandfather. Her name was
ELIZABETH GOWDY REWCASTLE
Elizabeth came to the US from Scotland with her parents they located in Birmingham, AL.That is where she met and married my Grandfather on 12/18/1890. His name was ANDREW ANDERSON PRATT who was also from Scotland. Elizabeth and Andrew had 8 children, the youngest of which was my father, Capers Jones Pratt.
Elizabeth had 2 brothers and possibly a sister. One brother was JAMES and the others name began with a B.I have a letter indicating that "B" lived and worked in Calgary, Canada.
Elizabeths parents were John and Jessie.
Kirkoswald, Parrish, Schotland
New Cumnock, Scotland
John married Jessie in Auchinleck, Ayr, Scotland on 4/16/1881.
John was a cabinet maker. He moved his family to the US and settled in Birmingham, Alabama. After living in the US for about 20 years John and Jessie decided to return to Scotland.I have a newspaper clipping with a photo of John and Jessie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Prestwick, Scotland.
I hope you will be able to find a connection. Please let me know.
