Robert D. Rewis was in the Ware Count volunteer, with the Georgia company of James A. Sweat (Florida Indian wars). There was a William Woodward in that same company. (the property in Wisconsin was immediately assigned over to a Mary Woodward.)
There was also a John Marion O'berry in that company. The O'berrys had land patents for Florida, granted because of their participation in the Florida Indian Wars. Those properties were in same section as the Taylor properties.
Can anyone tell me, why Bethany Anderson couldn't collect a pension because she didn't know which company her husband was in.The Woodwards knew.AND, if Robert D. Rewis died in 1856, how did he assign property in Wisconsin to Ms. Woodward in 1857?
gets curiouser and curiouser.
