GeorgeRexford d? m.JaneKnapp who d.1885
To be up front,.. I have nothing on George Rexford and his wife Jane Knapp. It is simply stated in Houghton family notes that they were the birth parents of Grace Houghton who was adopted by a Houghton family that lived in Maryland, Otsego Co., NY. The following is what I do have:
Notes for Grace Houghton: Grace was raised by Melvin Houghton b.8/14/1837 and Lucy Smallin b. 9/24/1836 (both Wm.Melvin & Lucy were born in the town of Maryland), from infancy. She was born a Rexford, the dau. of George Rexford & Jane Knapp. Her mother died shortly after her birth. When she was about 13y old, her name was legally changed to Houghton.I know nothing of the Rexford clan. Up until the name change, she is recorded as "Grace Rexford" in the Census records that are documented every 5 years in NY (state & federal).
Grace (Rexford)Houghton is the child of my ggg-grandfather's nephew. I have plenty of Houghton information to share and thousands of surnames of the town of Maryland & it's village Schenevus that fall into that line. Perhaps I can be of assistance too? I am mostly looking for some definition to this family before I begin costly comfimations through library research. It drives me nuts to expend money for the response of "sorry we didn't find anything" (with an echo of my wonderment in if they even really looked or just kept the money). I just know that with some dates to back me up, the results are much better. Actually, if I could just pitch a tent in Otsego Co. and stay there for 6 months, it would be great. Kind of a dream. My trips to NY have been the ultimate best in obtain any information - I'm just kinda "stuck in PA" for the winter.

Am still waiting on a copy of the Jan.1939 accident involving Frank Morgan's son and his wife (I don't know which son it is about). Any information on George Rexford &/or his wife, Jane Knapp will be appreciated, no matter how slim. I wonder what ever happened to the man. Thank you for taking the time to review this,.. hope we can connect somewhere.
