Martha E. Morris Reynolds, 99, of the Ottway community,
Greeneville, Greene Co TN, died Saturday, April 4, 2009,
at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
She was a homemaker.
She was the oldest member of Mountain Valley Church of
Brethren, which she attended as long as her health
permitted. She joined the church as a young teen when the
church was called the Dunkard Church.
Mrs. Reynolds was a member of the Ottway Ruritan Club.
Her family knew her as a very loving and kind mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother. They said she took
great pride in her family and always tried to be a good
friend to everone. She always had a smile and a hug for
everyone. She had a strong faith and a great love for her
heavenly Father, which never failed her. She loved working
in the garden, piecing and quilting quilts, and crocheting,
wihch she did as long as she was able.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred
Reynolds; a daughter, Darlene Hopson; son, Charles
Reynolds; two grandsons, Jeff Parker and Danny Reynolds;
great grandson, Brad Parker; her parents, S. O. 'Sonny'
and Louisa Murdock Morris; two brothers, Tom Morris, and
an infant; and three sisters, Wilsie Fortner, Mable Booker,
and an infant.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, W. Frank and
Mary Reynolds of Capron, IL; three daughters and two sons-
in-law, Bonnie R. and Paul Parker of the home, Thresa N.
Banks of Greeneville, TN, and Brenda Gale and Fred Gilbert
of Chuckey, TN; a daughter-in-law, Aundrea Reynolds; ten
grandchildren, Bill Hopson, Michele Howard, Gene Parker,
Jerry Parker, Joe Johnson, Steve Johnson, Anita Williams,
Melissa Reynolds, including two special grandchildren and
caregivers, Tina Ratliff and Fred 'Frog' Parker; seven
step grandchildren, Sherlyn Campbell, Beth Jeffers, Eva
Taylor, John Bright, Jamie Gilbert, Barbara Anderson, and
Steve Banks; fifteen great grandchildren; eleven step great
grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; nine step
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday,
April 6, 2oo9, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to
8 p.m., Tuesday at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2009,
at Mountain Valley Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Bo
Deaton and the Rev. Wolfgang Windland officiated.
Pallbearers were William Carter, Ernie Dunn, Mike Gaby,
the Rev. David Wheeler, James Wine, Danny Gaby, Todd Gaby,
and Teddy Gaby. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Nathan
Horner, Dr. Charles Montgomery and staff, Dr. A. K. Sen
and staff ...
Interment was in Cross Anchor Cemeter, Greene Co TN.
Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home served the Reynolds family.
