Will the real John Reynolds Please Stand Up??
Who are the Parents of JohnReynolds Born 5 October 1710.?
Where there two John Reynolds born on or near the same day or born a month apart.??
ParentsRobert and Grace Clark Reynoldshave been sourced .
Parents Richard and Elizabeth Sharpe have been sourced.
Both Robert and Richard seem to have died around the same time frame 1709 and 1711 respectively.
And Left Wills or Estates.
Stories of families Taking in children of other family Member was a common practice.
Also Note.??If John Reynolds Was born to Grace Clark Reynolds, Robert Reynolds Could not have been the Father ~OR~his birth date could not have beenin 1710. Rod Stucker has referenced an estate of Robert Reynolds being signed on5 July 1709 (Doc 186b) a whole year and five months before John Reynolds was born on 5 October 1710, so how could Robert have been the father.??
Do not discount the idea that Grace Clark Reynolds Was the Mother thoughshe may have been.
It has been said Grace Clark Reynolds died shortly after John Reynolds was born.
Who would have taken John in .. an uncle or cousin?
A brother to the Robert Reynolds or cousin maybe.
Also did John Reynolds (of 1710) have two wives.??
The clues may be found in the estate records ofJohn Reynolds of Rowan County .Which John Francis took over at the death of his Father.
Please read carefully....

...........Though the county location for the 1636 patent for Nicholas Reynolds was not provided in the original description of the patent, the description does list Lawnes Creek which corresponds with the northern boundary for the Upper Parish in Isle of Wight County as described above. There was another estate record for Robert Reynolds on 5 Jul 1709 which was signed by Grace Reynolds (Doc.#186b).
~ Rod Stucker
(Had Robert Reynolds died before 5 July 1709..??
In Tillman’sbook is referencedsons of RobertReynolds and Grace Clark ~ Nicholas Reynolds andJohn Reynolds. excerpt following ) ~ Rick Brown
Are you sure about the reference to Surry County, NC in 1718? Not only did Surry County, NC not exist then, but I seriously doubt that there were any white people there at that time. Surry County NC is substantially farther inland than where the Granville proprietors had let anybody buy land as of 1718, if I'm remembering my history right. I'll bet you really mean Surry county, Virginia, which is just a stone's throw from Norfolk.
In the will of Robert or Grace Reynolds, is there mention of any chattel property? My ancestors were from Norfolk and they carried the Reynolds name, although they are not Reynolds by blood. They were chattel property. I'm trying to find evidence of ownership in wills. Is there mention of a Flora, Rose, Norton or Mary Ann in the will?
