Re: Rhys Ap Thomas/Katherine Howard, NOT!
Dear Mr Bird:
In doing my research on the Ap Rhys-Rice connection I too concluded that Katherine Howard has noting whatever to do with the Gruffed ap Rhys 1531 children alleged to be his Beyond what they had together....I.E. Thomas ap Rice, Agness ap Rice and Mary Ap Rice ca 1530.The William Ap Rice figure I investigated was likely the son of the Laundress to Mary Tudor, Princess and Daughter of Henry VIII &Tudor nephew to my Ancestor Tacinda Tudor, daughter of Catherine of Valois/Consort to Henry V and Jasper Tudor. That line descends through Reynold Grey to the Mercer Family and Wilkinson Family: Mayor of London. To Margaret Mercer 1578 andmarries my Direct Blood Ancestor Thomas ap Rice 1570 son of John ap Rice 1540 son of William ap Rhys 1521 a son of Sir Rhys ap Thomas. 1449.The DNA test I completed shows that a member of the Sir Rhys Family was likely the Father of EDMUND RICE 1594 as He and I share the exact same Y chromosome segment lengths on all but 4 sites within one step....So if the mutation rate is 1 per 100 years the common ancestor of Sir Rhys ap Thomas and Edmund RICE 1594 is close to Sir Rhys Ancestorywhich does connect to a joint female ancstor to both Tudor lines and ap Thomas Lineswithin the tiime frame of 1200 to 1600....Who would that be?The circle should be fairly easy to Identify....I have looked carefully at the Frost Line (his wife's ancestoral line) and came across some near matches.indicating the Forst/Tudor/ap THomas Lines must focus down onto a common ancestor...fyiKind RegardsDale C.
