Re: Louisa Rice
This is not my Rice line, but I think I have found enough information to answer your questions.I believe this is your family:
1910 Montana, Columbia, Flathead.
Grant H. Rice, 41,b. KY
Lou Rice, 39, KY
Frank, 16 Minnesota
Ella M., 14, MN
Leo V. 11, MN
Clara B., 9, MN
Ethel M., 7, MN
Goldie M., 5, MN
Georgia, 1, Montana
In the 1895 Minnesota State Census they were living in Wright Co. MN, and it shows they had a daughter, Bessie, 3, b. KY.Their son, Frank, was also in the listing, born in Minnesota.
www.familysearch.org has a marriage certificate copy for Bessie Rice, age 17, b. Frankfort, KY.She married Eugene C. Caley, age 38, in Kalispell, MT on 4 Jan 1909.Her father is shown as Grant Rice, her mother’s maiden name is given as Louisa Lamaster.
In the California Death Index (free, online) their youngest daughter is shown as Georgia Broe, b. 8/25/1908, in Montana, father’s name, Rice, mother’s maiden name, Lemaster.
The same index shows Grant Rice, b. 6/18/1868, KY, died 2/27/1955, Fresno Co. CA.His mother’s maiden name was Molett.
The 1940 census shows Grant Rice living in California, alone, marital status, divorced.
I don’t know what became of Louisa Lemaster/Lemaster Rice.
If you haven’t already discovered it, familysearch.org is a great, free search site.Using this information you can probably trace the Rice and Lemaster lines back at least one more generation.
