Re: Rickmers family of Helgoland/Germany/etc
Michael:I'm back from my vacation.Do you mind corresponding with me this way?
Which Rickmers family does your father know?My Nikolaus Peter Rickmers (b. 1857) took his family to Flensburg ca. 1890.
His brother, Heinrich Ludwig Rickmers (b. 1852), married Maria Charlotte Denker on Helgoland.I have been in contact with his descendents, though not since Henry and Renate Würtz died. They owned the appliance store on Helgoland.Their son, Sönke, runs it now. And, another son, Uwe also owns a business on the main street of Helgoland's lower land.I have not corresponded with either of them since their parents' deaths. Also, I knew Günther Tadday.
Yet another son, August Carl Diedrich (b. 1854), was a sailmaker in Lehe, Germany, in 1901.Don't know anything more about him.
And another brother, Gustav Rickmers (b. 1867), and his wife, Wilhelmine Groneweg, went to Apenrade, now Abenra in Denmark. He was mayor there from 1898 to 1916.
Another son, Diedrich Peter Rickmers, was a barber in 1901.I know no more about him either.
Another son, was deceased in 1901, but, had a wife, Maria (Lührs) and three children, August, Henriette, and Louise.I don't even know his name yet.
Theparents, Rickmer Rickmers and Johanna Catharina Dorothea Mehrmann, stayed on Helgoland. He died in 1891 and she in 1900.
There may have been another son, too.
If your father can tell me anything at all about any of them, I would be very pleased.
