Re: Jacob Rieker b about 1820 in Wuerttenburg
Welcome to the mysterious world of the Rieker family. They sure are an elusive bunch.I don't think we have any connection, at least in my direct Jacob line.I have seen the name spelled Ricker, Recker, Reiker, Riker etc.Census records are sometimes really hard to read because they are blurry. My ggrandfather Jacob came from Germany, probably as a child, through New York state, my grandfather is listed as born in NY on a census record I found. They settled in Corry PA.I have found a census record in NY that may have my Jacob listed, if so his father was Frederich and he had several siblings, but I have not been able to pursue that lead yet. One of his siblings may be the father of your Elizabeth.
I have been lucky enough to get info from the Historical Society in Corry and have pieced together many names in my Jacob line, have no Elizabeths at all, and they do tend to use the same names in all the families over and over again. I wish you great luck in your search, they are a hard family to track, even though one of the sources I had in Germany told me Rieker was a "usual" name over there.Wonder where they all are.If you want my info, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will send it out to you, and please let me know if you have any luck, some day someone has to get lucky!!!Arlene Montgomery
