Re: Do you have Info on This RILEY Line
Sorry but don't think I'm going to be much help to you, I am still in search of information on how the Riley's and Williams connect if indeed they do.I still have no further information on Nicey Riley, wife of Samuel Riley.
My main interest was in finding information on my great grandfather Ephriam Williams and to figure out why my great grandfather Ephriam Williams was living in the Samuel Riley household on the 1870 Van Buren Co. Ar. census and as to whether the other two Williams children were his siblings.I have also tried to locate the maiden name of Samuel Riley's wife Nicey, thinking possibly she was a sister to the Williams childrens mother, or related in some other way, it's possible that the children were related to Samuel Riley himself somehow, but I have been unable to locate anyone with any information.
Seems to be quite a mystery surrounding Ephriam Williams, while some mention hearing of him, no one seems to be able to or wants to place him in the Williams family line, hmmmnnnn!sounds as if Ephriam might have been one of those Blacksheep, doesn't it,but he must belong in the line of Williams of Polly Church's "Williams Family" book, because his father Riley Williams is listed in it, just no information of his having son, Ephriam Williams, but as you can see from the census below, he is definitely listed as Riley Williams son, the daughters of Riley Williams listed would be half sisters, from what I have been able to learn, but living descendants of the daughters have said their mothers did not mention having a brother or half brother , yet one after the death of one of the descendants a picture of Ephriam Williams was found among her belongings.
I was trying to determine the possible relationship of the Riley family to the Williams family , still unable to locate anyone with any information.

Here is the census that lists the Williams children in Samuel Riley's household.
870 Van Buren Co. Arkansas census
Samuel Riley age 32 b. TN
Nicey " 30 b. TN
Mary " 10 b. AR
Jalina? " 6 b. AR
Hugh " 4 b. AR
Ephriam Williams age 6 b. AR
Elvira Williams " 4 b. AR
William M. Williams " 1 b. AR
Ningen Riley " 1 b. AR
As you can see there is a six year old, a four yr. old, and a one year old listed with the surname of Riley, then you have a six yr. old, a four yr. old, and a one yr. old listed with the Williams surname, so the Nicey listed as wife of Samuel Riley could not be the mother of all six children and I have no information to verify Nicey's maiden name.
I believe that the Ephriam Williams listed in the 1870 census was Ephriam Williams, the same Ephriam listed as the son of Riley Williams on the 1880 cenus above, the dates seem to fit as well as place of birth.
In order to try to find more on Ephriam Williams I did do some research on the Riley Family and do find connections to them among others of my family line though not direct as yet, which eventually that may turn out to be closer, but at this time I seem to have hit a brick wall.I have a lot of connections of family who came from Scotland, Van Buren Co.AR. and the surrrounding counties, and a lot of mysteries I have yet to unravel.
I will keep a record of your message and if I should find anything at all that might help will be happy to send it your way and if you have any information on how the Riley family might have connections to my Ephriam Williams I would sure like to have that information.
If you have any questions or would like to email me direct feel free to do so.
