Andrew, I was wondering what info you have that Mary Ellen's mother is Cloey Ryson? My ancestor Josiah Risen is the son of Josiah and Cloe Risen according to his wife's, Nancy Jones Risen, Bible. It would make sense that Josiah, Jr. and Mary Ellen were related in some way, especially marrying cousins, Nancy Jones and Thomas Gravitt. At least Risen is an unusual name, (but also spelled so many different ways in records, as all names were then), I guess, that it makes it a little easier to track them. However, so many records were burned over the years that it's hard to trace people! My cousin had found that Cloe Risen was listed as head of household in the 1830 and 1840 Clark Co., KY census. She died probably in 1844, as her "inventory , deceased," is listed in the Clark Co. court records March 7, 1844. She is listed as buying a pocketbook from the estate of John H. Rison, deceased, on Aug. 6, 1841, Josiah Rison, administrator. This Josiah is most likely her son. I don't know the relationship to this John H. Rison, but it doesn't seem it could be Henson Risen, since others on this forum have found him in later censuses in Greene Co. We believe Cloe's maiden name was Moore, but are not sure.
