Re: James Henry Ritter
James Henry Ritter is my direct line ancestor also. My records show from the Texas State Archives No. 11600 is his Confederate Pension Application.I show he was in Co. F 10th Texas Cavalry (Locke's Regiment).
Where did you find the information that Sara died 3 days after giving birth to John Sampson Ritter? I don't have that. I have a copy of his Marriage Certificate to both Mary and Sarah Ball if you want or need them.
The children of James Henry and Mary F. Ball are:
John B. (?) b. ca 1870
James Edward Z. Ritter b. Dec. 1871
Carrie A. Ritter b. Sept. 1875, d. Mar. 29, 1929m. Carl L. Carrico Jan. 23, 1890 in Panola County, Tx.
Nettie J. Ritter (possibly called Sallie) b. 1878
Henry H. Ritter b. 1880
Levi M. Ritter b. Apr. 1887
Benjamin L. Ritter b. Sept. 1889
James Edward Z. Ritter, b. Dec. 1871 in Tx. He married 1) Lula Ursery July 3, 1890 and 2) Hannah Brown. I have a copy of the Marriage Record for James and Lula. The 1900 U. S. Census Texas has James married to Lula in Panola County along with Virginia Urssery (mother-in-law) and Beatrice Ussery (sister-in-law). The 1910 U. S. Census Texas shows him as Edward Ritter, married to Hannah in Pct. 7, Panola County.
