I called Hellen Eisenbach, spoke with her and then called her Grand Daughter Debbie Halstead too. Hellen didn't remember much about her grandmother Hermina and never met her grandfather Claus other than she thinks he died young, in his 50s. She said she only met Herman Heinrick a couple of times and that their families seldom saw each other. She also said her father was a butcher and that her father had a sister in Germany. She thought that Ida might have photos of Claus. Hellen was very nice to talk with and she was really tickled to hear from me.

Debbie provided much more information. She has been doing research since she was in 10th grade and is now 40. The biggest info she had was that she has a copy of Claus's Nationalization Paper. Its a poor copy because she made it about 20 years ago but she said she copied it from the original that Ida had. She said that the original has the wax seal on it and everything. Did Ida ever mention that to you? On the paper, which is all in German it lists Claus's birth date as November 23, 1840 and his immigration date as May 20, 1866. It also lists his father's name as:

she said its harder to read the mother's name but she thinks it is
Monica Druenard (or close to it).
The paper also lists Claus's departure being from Ottendorf, Germany. Debbie said that there should also be another paper that list grandparents information and other stuff but wasn't sure if Ida had it or not. I haven't called Ida yet as I thought that since you visited her yesterday if she didn't show you the Nationalization letter you might call her to ask her about it.

Debbie said that a bunch of years ago she sat with her grandmother and got her to tell her life story, which she wrote down and is in the process of transcribing into her computer. Her grandmother said that she remembers Claus as being a red head and that Augusta was tough but also encouraged her to take additional education courses to better her life. She said Augusta would bake a cake every week.

Claus was a red head according to Hellen Kropp Eisenbach, his grand daughter Hellen.
