Batavia. March 4 - Guy Robe 48, of Elba died today at Batavia Hospital. Robe leaves a son Robert, a daughter Gertrude; three sisters Mrs. A. M. McIlroy of Wilson, Mrs. William Warner of Buffalo and Mrs. Henry McArdle of Toronto, Canada; a half-sister and a half-brother. Funeral from the home at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon. Burial at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba.
Have you found out who the parents of Jeffrey Robe were? I'm presently tending to think that my 3g-grandfather, Lester Robe, may have been a brother of Jeffrey's. Lester was born Connecticut about 1810 and died 1847 Brooklyn, NY. Like Jeffrey the farmer (as seen in newspaper items) Lester the carpenter was also into Democrat party politics, he was a common council representative for the 5th ward of Brooklyn. I have pretty much ruled out Roswell Robe as a possible parent of Lester because it appears that all of Roswell's children were born in New York. As far as I can tell, that only leaves Walter & Martha (Case) Robe as possibe parents. This connection is (ever so slightly) supported by the fact that one of Lester's grandchildren bears the middle name of "Case". I also think that Jeffrey's son, William Frank Robe, attended the 1908 wedding of one of Lester's other grandchildren, Lester Robe Van Sicklen.
