Descendants of Joseph Roberts of Lawrence, MA
Joseph Roberts (born 1850-60) immigrated from northern Wales or Cheshire, England to Massachusetts. It is believed that he originally settled in New Bedford, MA, before moving to the area around Lawrence, MA, likely, to work in the textile mills.
Joseph and his wife (name unknown) had a number of children:Sadie Roberts married William Bossons and remained in England; Joseph Roberts, Jr. married Lillian and is believed to have settled in Lawrence, MA; Thomas Roberts (b. 1883 in Wales) married Louisa Batty and settled in New Bedford, MA; Alfred Roberts married Elizabeth and settled in Flushing, NY.It is believed that Joseph had a son who remained in England, another who went to S. Africa (where he had 7 sons??), and another who went to S. America.
