I have some Rodds from Dorset and Cornwall who emigrated to Australia.
We have William Rodd, John Evans Rodd and Thomazin Evans Rodd all born in Boscastle-Forrabury, parents Edward Rodd and Mary (I suspect nee Evans) btwn about 1797-1805. Thomazin was later christened in Bishops Nympton, and was a witness to a wedding in Barnstaple in 1817 as an adult. Their elder sister Mary (b. circa 1795, whose birth record I have not found) married William Scurry of London, and they emigrated with their 4 adult sons to Melbourne between 1853-55.
William Rodd, b. 1798 in Forrabury, is my ancestor. He was transported for stealing a coat from a gentleman's house in London in 1816. He appears to be the black sheep of the family, as his sisters married very well and seem to have had good social connections. They both married wealthy Scurry men and their sons were sculptors, architects, engineers, inventors etc.
If either of you suspect a connection I would love to hear from you.
