Sue,, One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the ships
departed from Holland.. but the passengers may not have
been from there.
If you're a descendant of ole Ezekiah (choose your spelling)
Raughton.. he was here in 1619.
The other thing to keep in mind is the changes in all the
state boundaries .. not to mention the districts and counties
within those states. At one time "The Carolinas" embraced
SC/NC/GA/AL and all the way to MS.
You can likely find a (Rev) William Wroten in the 1800 census
in SC with an infant male child.
No, I wasn't called Rotten. I was called "Rodan" .. you know
after that sci-fi movie about the flying prehistoric bird.
Just loved it. I sort of wish my ancestors hadn't added the
'h' to the name. Its really a drag to spell it out on the
phone. And, I don't think that teacher of yours was
all that nice. But, I do think that genealogy is a lot
