I have found no evidence to suggest that any of the Jefferson County Rodericks came from Hampshire or Hardy Counties. To the contrary, everything points back to Ludwig(2)who settled in Washington County, near Weverton, Md.Weverton is across the river from Harpers Ferry and close to Charles Town (Jefferson County). Many of Ludwig's children migrated into various counties of what is now West Virginia. My great-grandfather John (b. abt. 1810) is shown on the 1850 census as living in Frederick County, Md.His father was Daniel (b. 1791) and married in 1809 in Washington County, Md.The generation between Daniel(1791) and Ludwig(2), b. 1723, is the link that cannot be identified with certainty at this time. The two sons of Ludwig(2) that appear to be the most likely candidates are John(3) and Daniel(3).Both John(3) and Daniel(3) are listed as residents of Washington County in Ludwig'(2) will written in 1785.The 1790 census shows a John Roderock and a John Rodrock of Washington County, Md. each having four children in their households. One of these individuals is likely John(3) and the other is probably his cousin.John(3) was born abt. 1770; thus, if he is the same John shown in the 1790 census, he had to have married at quite a young age.Daniel, on the other hand, was born abt. 1765 and, from an age standpoint, is perhaps a better candidate as the father of Daniel(b. 1791).
