Re: Hello from Bremen/Germany
Hello, Frank. My husband's family emigrated to US about 1863.One brother was Harm Rohlfs (our spelling). Here is his immigration information:
PASSENGER LIST FROM SHIP ALBERT:
HARM ROHLFS AGE 17 BLACKSMITH
FROM PROVINCE OF HANNOVER
LEFT FROM PORT OF BREMEN
ARRIVED IN NEW YORK FROM BREMEN
ARRIVED NY JULY 2, 1868.
EST DATE OF BIRTH1851
His younger brother, Gerhard Rohlfs b. 1866 came too, but don't know for sure when.If he came with his brother he was only 2 years old.We don't know their father or mother, but one son of Gerhard was named John Rohlfs.Harm's children were Rempt, Herman, Harm P., and Jerry (a variation of Gerhard). We have been told the family was from Emden and many of these immigrants settled in the state of Illinois and became farmers. They called their town "Emden."Most of them came from AMT Emden, Ostfriesland, Germany.Do you recognize any of this information? Thanks.
