Re: LARKIN ROGERS--Hawkins Co. TN
Eleanor...I am aware of at least 3 men named Larkin Rogers, but have never been able to tie any of them together. My gggg grandfather was Larkin Rogers, (b.in NC 1755-d. in MS 1839). His father "is believed to Benjamin Rogers". There was another Larkin Rogers who died in the American Revolution. He never married.
In my search for my Rogers clan, I came across a Larkin who was living in Morgan County, Alabama with a wife and kids. I didn't make note of the time period but he was about the right age to be the Larkin you are hunting. I never was able to tie him to my group, but there may have been relatives living in TN. My Larkin (1744-1839) had 11 children and at least 3 of the older ones were born in TN. Their birth dates are 1797, 1799, and 1803. None of Larkin's (1755-1839) known children were named for him. I've often wondered if there was a namesake that just didn't make it into the family Bible.
My Rogers family is believed to be part Native American. One of Larkin's daughters married a man (Wiley Curry) who was one quarter Cherokee. Mixed bloods tended to marry others. I have not looked in the Indian records...I have to find Larkin's father first.
I don't know if I can give you much help, but I'll be glad
to do what I can.
