George Roulstone (1767-1804) was a newspaper publisher. Born in Boston, Mass., the son of George Roulstone (Sr.) and Mary Stevens.
Established his first paper, "The Salem, Massachusetts,Chronicle and Essex Advertiser" in 1786 at the age of 19. He moved to Fayetteville, N.C.. In 1789, along with two partners, he published the Fayetteville Gazette. About 1790 the governor of the Southwest Territory persuaded George to move to Tennessee as the official printer. He printed Tennessee's first newspaper, the Knoxville Gazette, in 1791 and later the Laws of the State of Tennessee.
