An untitled, ten page typescript Kennedy family history written by Annette Kennedy that was provided to me by Faye Milne of Lakewood, Colorado, a Kennedy descendant, says “Two of his [grandfather John Kennedy’s] brothers, David and Robert came about this same time as did his sisters also. The sisters were Mesdames Craig, Barnes, Quimby and Campbell” (p. 3). I believe that this sister, Miss Kennedy who married a Quimby, is our Hannah Kennedy. According to Annette Kennedy’s history, Mesdames Craig, Barnes, Quimby, and John, David, and Robert Kennedy were children of John and Mary (Barron) Kennedy, grandchildren of Robert Kennedy of Kenelais, Scotland. These Kennedys were in Vermont so early that John Kennedy Jr. was said to be Ethan Allen’s aide de camp at the taking of Ft. Ticonderoga; John Kennedy Sr. died of “camp fever” on Mount Independence, he and his four sons all having enlisted under Ethan Allen.
Annette Kennedy, author of this brief ten page typed history, is Calista Annette Lorraine Kennedy, born 10 July 1832, Bolton, Vermont, daughter of Samuel Barnet and Hannah Moseley (Morse) Kennedy; married 8 December 1856, William L. White, died 1 August 1902 and buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery; a grand-niece of the Kennedy woman who married a Mr. Quimby.
I think we have here, at the right place and right time, a Miss Kennedy who marries a Mr. Quimby, matching up with our Hannah Kennedy who marries Moses Quimby. I’d be glad to share more details if you’d like but I feel this is very promising as a solution to this very old genealogical problem.
