RUBB/RUBLE in Shenandoah Co. VA 1800s?
Does anyone have information on any Rubles who were in Shenandoah Co. from about 1800-1840?My ancester Frances/Fanny Ruble was born in VA ca 1803-09, and was married in Shen.Co. in Feb. 1829 to Abraham Lindamood of Mill Creek.According to the marriage bond, she resided in Shen.Co. at that time. And yet I can find no Rubles in the county census records or the land tax lists for that time.
The best I've found in Shen.Co. are George Rubs/Rules? and Jacob Puppel in the 1820 census, and in Frederick Co. VA in 1820 a John and an Ann Ruble. Also Henry Ruby and George Ruddell in Shen. in 1830 (these are possible, I suppose, but might be stretching it a bit), and Philip Ruple in 1830 in Rockingham.(There were a few Ruble marriages in Shen.Co. in the late 1700s:Balser in 1793 and Martin in 1789, as well as a Martin Rubb in 1844, who might have actually been a Ruble. But where did they go in the 1820s?Did young Fanny's family move on and leave her behind?
I would be grateful for any clues, leads, or advice someone might have on these families.
