I believe Mary Jane may be the 6 year old girl listed in the 1850 DeKalb household of James (c. 1793) and Lavina (c.1797) Nicholson. If so, I'm interested in whether she's a daughter or granddaughter. If a granddaughter, I'm interested in finding her parents.James and Lavina had at least 4 sons and 4 daughters (plus Mary Jane?) and I have identified 2 each.I'm tracking the families movements. I also know a great deal about the other Nicholson families in DeKalb, so we can place Mary Jane in a family (have you already?) if we can get some feedback on her name.I noted her in my 1880 DeKalb notes (thought they might be related to my Gilberts then) before I knew she was a Nicholson.Unfortunately, I didn't record her and her husband's age.Do you have that and other census (1870?, 1900?) data for them?Do they stay in DeKalb or head west? You don't find her in 1860 do you?
Contact me and I'll tell you what I know about the Nicholsons.
