Carmela M. "Mollie" Aiello, 89, formerly of 149 Hudson St., passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 8, 2005 at Elmwood at the Shawhan. She was born June 7, 1916, in Sherburne, N.Y., to Anthony and Adelina (Ricci) Ruggiero. On Sept. 25, 1937, she married Salvatore Aiello in St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1977.
Survivors include two sons: Louie (Bonnie) Aiello of Tiffin; Tony (Cindy) Aiello of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; three daughters, Rosalie (Karl) Wilhelm of Peachtree City, Ga., Lena (Gary) Croy of Berea and Janet (Richard) Baeder of Finksburg, Md.; two brothers: Frank (Mary Lou) Ruggiero and Anthony "Jr." Ruggiero, both of Tiffin; five sisters: Maggie (Joe) Aiello, Mary Shimer, Lucy (Gene "Mac") McClellan, Pat (Dave) Klopp, all of tiffin and Liz Porter of Utah; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Benny and Danny Ruggiero; and three sisters, Ann Kiesel, Grace Mangiola and Alice Burkart.
Mrs. Aiello was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Mary Altar Rosary Society and active in the Red Hat Society at Elmwood at the Shawhan. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, babysitting, arts and crafts, and making jewelry.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. David Ross officiating. A rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or Community Hospice Care.
