Hi,

John Ruland has come up in some historical research I'm doing.

Maybe I can be of help to you.I found a John Ruland as a member of Masonic Lodge No. 12 in St. Louis MO.He is listed as being from Michigan.This appears to be in 1821.

I have found other info on him showing he was a clerk for General William Clark in the Indian Affairs in St. Louis in 1821.This is online in the American State Papers - govt website.

He is also mentioned on the Kansas State Historical Website as being William Clark's clerk a few years later.
