Matthew Rundquist Nebraska c. 1880
My grandfather Herman Axelander Rundquist (born in Nebraska, lived in Iowa, died in California) told us that when his father (Matthew Rundquist married to Wilhemena) came to this country from Sweden his name was Johnson and that because this was such a common name he and his 4 brothers changed their name to Rundquist. They all settled in the midwest - I believe in Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota. Has anyone else searching for this name heard this story? He had a brother named Albert who lived in Iowa.
