Hi Edgar,
There were very few Rushton families in Edgefield Co., SC, in the mid-to-late 1700s and early 1800s, so which one are you related to?
I have been trying for over 25-years to establish the lineage for my g-g-grandfather, Alfred Allen Rushton, b. 6 Mar 1810 Edgefield Co., SC, d. 17 Mar 1879 Columbia Co., AR, but to no avail.
Actually, I don't have proof that he was born in Edgefield Co., SC, but that was the information passed down from other family researchers.
A number of names (Moseley, Tillery, Cheatham, Young, & Rushton to name a few) in Edgefield Co., SC, moved to Butler Co., AL, and on up to Columbia Co., AR.
Alfred Allen Rushton is first found in Butler Co., AL, records in 1836.His first marriage was there in 1831 to Nancy Tillery, d/o Richard and Frances Tillery. This couple migrated from Edgefield Co., SC, ca 1818-1819.Nancy was b. 14 May 1810 Edgefield Co., SC, d. 16 Dec 1838 Butler Co., AL.
Maybe one of these days I'll find out who Alfred's parents are.VRB
