Russman/Russmann Volga Germans from Brabander Russia
Greetings!
I am searching for Russman/Russmann family members that are Volga Germans with "Roots" in the village of Brabander, Russia one of the 101 German Colonies along the Volga River in Russia set up by Catherine the Great. The village is also called Probander, Kasitzkaya, Kasitzka and Audencourt. In 1798 it had a total population of 398 people living in 78 dwellings. The population never reached 5,000 people. The Volga Germans were forcably removed from Brabander and sent to Siberia in 1941.According to Viktor Russmann who was born there in 1929, when he was able to return in 1956 most of the town, the church and cemetery had disappeared.Fortunately many of the Volga Deutscher left Brabander in the early years of the 20th Century and now they are scattered in Canada, the United States, Argentina and Germany and perhaps other places.
The Russman/Russmann family that I am searching for are allied with the families: Abt, Schwalje/Swalie, Braun, Kern, Fuhr, Bondank, Wett,Holman/Homan, Buss, and others. Some of the Russmann family members migrated to Argentina, while others went to Canada, Kansas, and Germany.
I would like to communicate with anyone that has knowlege of the Russman/Russman family of Brabander or their descendants or anyone having Brabander "Roots".
Thank You,
Jim Osborne
