Billie, the Rustins were Quakers from Chester Co. PA.Alice 'Tacy' Simcock married William Rustin at Old Swedes Church in Wilmington, Newcastle Co. DE in 1756.I have pasted a few notes on this couple.
Some of their grandchildren are named Tacy.I don't believe it to be an Indian name, but I have not researched that angle.
The William Rustin who married Alice "Tacy" Simcock may have been the son of James Rustin who died in Chester Co., PA late 1751 or early1752, intestate.Orphans Court records from Chester Co., filed in 1754, name his wife Anne, and his children:oldest son, William, John, Robert, Mary & Alice.Copy of these documents in writer's file.James's daughter Ann married a Waln.
1751, Mar. 30, at the public meeting house at Birmingham, William Rushton signed as a witness to the marriage of ________Vernon and Mary Bennett."Quaker Marriage Certificates, Concord Monthly Meeting, Delaware County Pennsylvania, 1679-1808, p 220.(Chester Co. was an original county in Pennsylvania formed in 1682.Delaware Co. was then formed from Chester in 1789.)
A William Ruston served from 16 April 1776 to 31 July 1776 as a Private in Captain Woodbridge's Company of Colonel Elmore's Regiment.Listed in the Pennsylvania Revolution Rolls and Lists 1775-1783.(Is this the subject William?)
1779, a William Rustin is listed in Ridley Twp, Chester Co., PA.This could be from the family of Job Rustin.
1790 Randolph Co. NC census:
William Rustin:1 male 16 years & over
William Ruster, Jr.:1 male 16 years & over
