Hi Carol

My Ryders are in Liverpool throughout most of the 19th century, and my ggrandfather came to London around 1870. The family business had gone bust in 1871, and I'm not sure that any of my family were still around after that date. Most of the children of the first generation had either not married or died young. Such survivors that there were were in Mobberley, Cheshire, in the 1880s. I think I have traced my lot back to Neston in Cheshire in the 1750s, and back by inference to the 17th century on the Wirral. There were other Ryder families in Liverpool in the same timescale, and another large Ryder family in Yorkshire who are still there. Your only solution may be to go through the IGI for the Liverpool churches that are there and see if you can piece the families together. It's a big task. I'm involved in a similar game with the Urmson family on the Wirral. Also my ancestors, who branched out all over the Wirral but only used a few Chrsitian names, so knowing who has done which and with what and to whom is a nightmare!

Good luck, and if you think I can help further, let me know.

Happy Christmas

John
