How excited I was to find your reference to the marriage of Ann Lee (Sackville) to Edward Turner on 4 Oct. 1688 on the Genealogy.com Forum.I am writing a biography of her father, Charles Sackville, 6th Earl of Dorset,(1643-1706) based on research I did many years ago for a Ph.D. thesis, and while I knew that she had married a 'Mr. Turner', I had never discovered exactly who he was or where the marriage took place.I would be extremely grateful if you would provide me with the references for your notes and would certainly acknowlege their provenance and your help.
You might be interested to know that Ann's mother, Alice, was a laundress/seamstress, who continued to work for the 6th Earl throughout the 1690s in addition to receiving from him an annuity of £50 and a position as a seamstress at Court through his patronage. It's a very interesting story which I'd be happy to share.I also have handwritten notes on his earlier wills (from the Kent County Archives) which refer to the legacies mentioned by Carolyn.
I look forward to hearing from you both and would be happy to receive any other info you or anyone else might have regarding Ann, Edward and their descendants.
