Janey,
I'm also looking for a SAILORS line that seems to have been in Mississippi County, New Madrid and Scott County, Missouri. Look at this obit below and tell me is this your line?If so please e-mail me.
I have found some info on the SAILORS line.
I'm looking for the line of Rufus W. "Tobe" SAILORS b.1910
Mississippi County, Missouri died 1948 in San Francisco, California. He married Ruby HIGGS from New Madrid County, MIssouri. Anyway in trying to search the Ruby HIGGS and her lineage backwards and trying to find info on her and her husband I have found a bit of info on the SAILORS in the area who connect.
See the obit below and let me know if he is your Vernon.
