Re: Davie/Rowan Co. Sains
I don't think you mentioned where James Wesley Sain lived; and I'm not sure of the time period. However, I copied a sheet in the Davie Co. Library years ago, which was sent by a Fae J. Owens of Bolivar, TN:
From the Bolivar bulletin, 1896-7 Feb - Died James Sain in Fannin Co., Texas, 23 Jan 1896, born in Rowan Co., NC 29 april 1822.Moved to Gibson Co., Tenn with parents in 1835 remaining there 2 years. They removed to Hardeman Co., and settled near Middleton.Married three times.1st to Miss Macon, sister of Whit Macon, by whom he had 6 or 7 children, 4 still living, William Sain, Calvin Sain, Enoch Sain, and a daughter Mrs. Elkins, now living in Ark.Married 2nd Mrs. Henson formerly Miss Cearley, by whom he had 2 children, 1 of whom survives.Married 3rd Miss Martha Angeline Cosby by whom he had 7 children, 4 living.Mrs. J.J. Hazlegrove, Mrs. Hester McDaniel, and Mrs. D.A. Bailey are sisters of deceased.Left Hardeman Co. in Nov 1894 for Texas, moving to Grayson Co., and later to Fannin where he died."(I noticed his last wife was Martha A.; thought there might be a connection.)
She also had a listing from the Hardeman Free Press:"1896-31 Jan - Died 23 Jan., near Sherman Texas, James Sain, born in NC on 29 April 1822 and moved to Hardeman Co., about 60 years ago.Lived here until 12 Feb 1893 when he moved to Texas.Leaves several children and a number of grandchildren."
I have some sheets with a Sain/McDaniel line, but could not find a Hester.I also could not find a listing for the birth of James.
I have other information which states a Jacob Sain (don't know whose son) had a son Wesley. One paper states Jacobs "legatees" let Wesley have land on both sides of Elisha's Creek (Davie Co., NC).No year mentioned.
George Sain (son of Casper) married Elizabeth Booe about 1787; they had a son Jacob.
Joseph Sain (also a son of Casper) married Molly Booe about 1792; they also had a son Jacob.
Maybe this will give you some leads.
