In follow-up to your question about the name Spilsby in 2008.I recently did some additional work on the name and found the following.
There were two Spilsby Sale's.One, Spilsby J. Sale, son of Richard, born 1799.The second, Spilsby Coleman Woolfolk Sale, born 1882.As you can see, the later shows a relationship to both the Coleman's and the Woolfolk's.Spilsby Coleman Woolfolk was a Baptist minister in Caroline County.Born in 1765 and died in 1841.His mother was Mary Coleman, whose father was Spilsby Coleman, whose mother was Ann Spilsby, born England 1659, died Essex County, Virginia 1717.
I still believe the name originated near the town of Spilsby in County Lincolnshire.
It is likely that both of the Spilsby Sale's were named for Spilsby Coleman Woolfolk.
