Looking for information on Candida (DeVoto)Saltalamachia and her husband Francis (Frank) Saltalamachia. Candida was the daughter of Gaetano & Mary DeVoto, and the sister of Vincent & John DeVoto, and Mary (DeVoto) Meskew.She was born August 29, 1845 in Caregli, Borzonasca, Italy which is near Genoa.She came to the U.S.A. with her family in 1847, and settled in Louisville, Ky.On September 28, 1858, she married Frank Saltalamachia at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville.They moved to Memphis, Tn. and had children there.I believe one may have been a son named Anthony.Frank became ill during the Typhoid epidemic.He died in Louisville on September 18, 1878, so they may have come back up to Louisville to live with family when the epidemic was going on. At sometime after that, Candida moved to California.She is known to have been in Los Angeles, Ca. as early as 1910.She died January 17, 1926 in Glendale, Los Angeles County, Ca., and is buried in a cemetery there.An Anthony Frank and a Vincent Saltalamachia are listed as informants on death certificate and funeral records.Would love to hear from anyone who has any information about Candida, her husband Frank, and their children!
